summer loving

I am so super pumped for Summer - in my excitement I decided to compile a bit of my summer style inspirations for the coming season.

Accented with of course this month's flower feature & everyone's favourite, the Peony Rose. Only blooming at the height of Spring here in Australia, in November each year. Peonies with their large blowsy, rose-like, fragrant flowers are among the most romantic plants in the world. There are two forms, tree and herbaceous species. The peony is among the longest-used flowers in ornamental culture and is one of the smallest living creature national emblems in China. Along with the plum blossom, it is a traditional floral symbol of China. It is also known as "flower of riches and honour," and is used symbolically in Chinese art.

baby blue hydrangea hue

As the summer heat kicks in I am finding my roses and peonies aren't quite lasting the little life they're known for. But on driving up Sydney's Northern Beaches I was taken by the blue hues of Hydrangea blooms & bushes flourishing in the summer sun and on mass!!!!
With thanks to Madonna's recent hate for the Hydrangea they are now on of the most in demand flowers not to mention most expensive! So those lucky enough to have them in you backyard, bring that blue love in for all to see!!! Bring back the humble Hydrangea I say!!!
